Julie Lewis: End of an Era

Putney Town Rowing Club men’s head coach Julie Lewis has announced she will be stepping down at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Julie 'Jules' Lewis joined Putney Town in 2008 and was part of a very strong senior women's squad who achieved a 26th place finish at WEHORR (2011), two bronze medals at the British National Championships and nurtured a talented Charlotte Taylor who went on to row for the GB squad.

In 2014 Jules began supporting the coaching of the Development Men's squad and fell in love with the role. She took opportunities to improve her skills and knowledge and was appointed Head Men's Coach from September 2016. In the last 3 year, Jules has overseen category wins at Pairs Head and Fours Head, a club record result at the Head of the River Race and the return to Henley Royal Regatta with our best result in 39 years. She remains passionate about progressing Putney Town and continues to encourage and teach athletes from learn-to-row, through the development squad and into the senior men. In 2017, Putney Town RC presented Jules with the Volunteer of the Year Award, for her contributions to the club.

Jules leaves the squad to take up a full time teaching position and to spend more time with loved ones and friends but will continue to be an active member and supporter of the the club. We wish Jules all the best in her new job and thank her for her years of dedication and enthusiasm.

Come on the Town
