Our women's senior squad is one of the most rapidly developing squads on the Tideway. Having had a successful season, winning 3 pennants and multiple pots at recent regattas, the women’s squad is putting increasing pressure on established clubs.
Coached by Lewis Thorpe, winner of the 2016 Thames Cup with Molesey BC, his careful coaching of the squad is built upon a demanding yet flexible training programme enabling athletes to pursue demanding careers whilst also achieving considerable success on the water.
The Women’s Squad aims to go on at least one camp away from the Tideway each year alongside training weekends at Dorney. We welcome all women with previous sweep and sculling experience with an ambition to row competitively.

2+ Years Experience
With ages ranging from late twenties into the sixties, our Masters Womens squad competes in both rowing and sculling events throughout the year. This includes local races on the Thames as well as national races such as British Rowing Masters Championships, Henley Masters and European Masters Championships.
Our lead coach is James Holmes-Siedle. He is supported by two assistant coaches (Amanda Birkinshaw & John Hickling) providing a huge breadth of knowledge & expertise to the squad.
Admission to our squad is based on the coach's discretion and any athletes wishing to join the Masters Women are requested to participate in a mandatory trial water outing with the coach.
Masters Womens squad members have access to a detailed training plan & accompanying Apps that challenge the squad on a weekly basis. We focus on fitness, endurance, strength and power/speed to enable us to remain competitive for key races and most of all have fun!
Completion of regular testing and publishing individual training scores are mandatory.
During the spring, as we prepare for regatta racing, one of the highlights is the annual training camp, which for the last three years this has taken place in Spain.
Our club is entirely run by members for members and we therefore rely on people to support the club. The MW squad play an integral part in the development of the club, supporting club events and Learn to Row courses, club socials and other events throughout the year.
Ready to take the next step? If you think that our squad would be a good fit for you, please get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.

The development squad caters for a range of abilities. Graduates from learn to row programmes or those with rowing experience are welcome to joing our development squad. If you want to get back into competitive squad rowing whilst have limited time, we could be just right for you. We welcome members joining from other clubs, along with rowers who have taken an extended break and wish to refresh their skills.
The development squad trains together with our fantastic coaches along with input (or assistance) from experienced members of other squads. Training runs from September to July each year, with two water outings on one day each weekend, plus three flexible land training sessions. We also look to run a training camp each summer.
Our training programme is aligned with other women’s squads and looks to integrate our new athletes into the Club's social and competitive atmosphere with weekly circuits, club nights and regular social events.
At PTRC, we encourage our members to move between squads to suit their personal requirements, as rowing skills develop, or as lives or careers change. Our main aim is to develop our squad members to enable them to compete at the highest of their abilities.
Entering all major tideway races and summer regattas, we have a fantastic, fun, inclusive, atmosphere within the squad.
If you want to learn, improve your rowing and your fitness, win a few pots and have fun with like minded people, please come and join us !!
