PTRC entered four crews into the centenary edition of the Head of the River Race, with boats racing across both the Senior and Development squads. Among them was a Beginner crew taking on HORR for the first time, gaining valuable experience on the Championship Course

SENIOR MEN

The Senior Men had a successful day out with two eights racing alongside 370 others at the centenary HORR, challenging themselves in extremely tough and variable conditions.

M1:

Another standout result from PTRC’s top ranked crew - 91st. This is the first time the club has gone back-to-back top 100 since 1968 - and done so in a club record time of 18:40!

It was a strong row, with an especially sharp first and last KM - and supported through the Chiswick crosswind by an expert line from cox Scott.

Most notably, a lot of HRR rivals were also bested on the day, putting the squad into a great position to go one better in the summer and get PTRC to Henley 2026.

M2:

The PTRC SM 2V had a great race, finishing in 207th - a great result considering the size and depth of entry in the 100th Head of the River Race.

The crew managed conditions well, and was able to use the tailwind from Hammersmith to the finish line to great effect, supported by some great calls from cox Lucas.

The summer will provide further opportunities for this group to challenge themselves, and we are excited to see where they end up!

DEVELOPMENT MEN

Development Men's Squad entered two boats into what turned out to be, a rather action packed head race for all!

The intermediate crew #358 - PTRC D (Open), set off very positively and stuck to their race plan. However a pinch point at Barnes bridge saw multiple boats coming together with PRTC D boat right in the middle. Having had to stop to recover the stroke's blade, and avoid more collisions ahead, the valiant crew rowed on to complete the race having rowed very well. Lots of positives despite the disruptions.

The novice crew #369 - PTRC E (CB), all of whom were taking part in their first HoRR, rose to the occasion and did the club proud. Led by Jack at stroke they rowed brilliantly, pushing bridges away along the course. Their time was 7 seconds faster than that of PTRC D. Bravo.
