PTRC Women entered five crews into the 2026 edition of the Women's Eights Head of the River Race, racing across the Masters, Senior, and Development squads. With a strong presence on the start line, the crews took on the

Championship Course in a highly competitive field, gaining valuable race experience and delivering determined performances across the squads. 🚣‍♀️💪

SENIOR WOMEN

The Senior Women’s W1 delivered a standout performance at WEHoRR, navigating the 6.8km Tideway course under brilliant sunshine in a field of over 300 crews. Despite rowing in clear water for the duration of the race, the crew stayed internally focused to maintain a clinical rhythm. The pressure remained high as category rivals Marlow and Reading chased them down, overtaking several other boats and forcing W1 to keep pushing through their heels all the way to the finish line at Putney.

This relentless effort earned the crew an impressive 9th place out of 24 in the competitive Club Challenge category and 116th overall. Holding off such strong contenders while rowing "alone" is a testament to the squad’s grit and mental discipline. It was a fantastic day on the water that sets a high standard for the upcoming regatta season.

DEVELOPMENT WOMEN

The Development Women fielded one crew at the Women's Eights Head of the River Race, with Lucas in the coxing seat guiding the boat down the Championship Course. For many of the athletes, it was their first time racing at WEHORR, making it a particularly special milestone for the crew.

Coached by Brian Day, the group embraced the challenge and atmosphere of the event, with one rower summing up the day simply: “...participating in WEHORR was amazing!” 🚣‍♀️
