Just a week after recording two wins at Chiswick Regatta, a number of crews from the masters women’s and women’s squads entered Borne at Chiswick Bridge Regatta.
In the opening heat, the Putney Town novice women’s eight recovered from a boat-stopping crab early in the race to beat the Imperial College School of Medicine by a canvas, with both crews comfortably beating St. Paul’s Girls’ School.
Onto the final, where the girls faced Vesta, who had beaten Team Keane in their opening heat. This time there was no need for any dramatic come-backs as a quicker start from Putney Town put them into a lead from which Vesta were unable to recover. A solid row down the course put the girls 2 lengths up by the closing stages, and with some noise from the Putney Town steps the crew crossed the finish line comfortable winners to lose their novice status!
In others races, a number of the masters women were racing a singles regatta race for the first time. Cecile reached the final of WMasC.1x, while the quad finished second, sandwiched between two crews from Mortlake A&A.
WNov.8+ winners: Melanie Perkins, Francesca Lawley, Lauren Buchanan, Gina Killick, Jessica Dames, Laura Tompkins, Joely Dicks, Lara Tandy, Vikram Patel (cox)
