A Week on the Water: Rowing the Po River

In early June, Susan and Erin joined 25 Italians for the VogaPosse- a weeklong, 400km row across northern Italy. The journey followed the Po River from Pavia, just south of Milan, east to the Adriatic Sea, south of Venice. Four quads made up the fleet, with everyone taking a turn in each seat.
It was a week like no other with long daily distances (average 57kms), lengthy lunches and dinners, a passage through a deep lock, scorching sun, and afternoons spent singing while rowing. Our broken Italian improved but not yet passable in mixed company. ;) Unsurprisingly, there were highs (lots of laughter) and there were lows (a sinking boat for one), but plenty of camaraderie and an experience that won't soon be forgotten.
